Description
During the Victorian era the moustache was a fashion requirement for men, so they applied wax to keep it stiff, but when drinking hot liquids, the steam would melt the wax and drip into the cup, it also often stain the moustaches; the half moon-shaped opening allowed the passage of liquids and served as a guard to keep moustaches dry.
