Description

First two pages of the text. Velázquez de León was a mathematician, astronomer, lawyer, writer, cartographer, engineer and miner. He was the first director of the Mining Court and was part of the last generations of the Illustration in New Spain. Upon Gálvez's arrival, he traveled with him to California, where he carried out cartographic and astronomical work; among them, the observation of the transit of Venus through the solar disk. He was commissioned to form a geographical map of the provinces of Nueva Galicia, Nueva Vizcaya, Sinaloa, Sonora, and California.
