Title
Captain Ritchie´s house
Description
During part of the 19th century, British Captain Thomas Ritchie was considered the founder of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur. He was part of the crew of a whaling ship that was based at this point on the peninsula. He abandoned the ship and decided to stay and live in that place and was the only European settler in the Los Cabos region in the 18th century. In 1828 he began working as a blacksmith and saved to buy a piece of land, where he built a two-story house and a mill to extract water, all surrounded by a wooden fence. In this place he gave refuge to all kinds of adventurers, merchants, shipwrecked people, miners or explorers in exchange for products or a small amount of money.
