An engagement of interest in social and college circles has been announced – that of Miss Jessica Marian Davis and Arthur Charles Nahl. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Andrew M. Davis, secretary of the Emporium. Mr. Nahl, the well-know painter, who was the founder of the Olympic Club and one of the original members of the Bohemian Club. He was graduated from the University of California in June, 1901, completing at that time a course in mining engineering which fitted him for expert work. At present Mr. Nahl is in Mexico looking after the interest of some Eastern capitalists. While at college he was a member of the glee club and for a while it´s leader as well. He is a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon and the Theta Un Epsilon fraternities and of the Skull and Keys Society. / Miss Davis is attending the University of California and will graduate next year. Her course takes her through the College of Letters. During her four years at the University Miss Davis has been one of the most popular of girls. She is a member of the Alpha Psi Sorority and has been promient in college theatricals. Miss Davis has a number of interesting family connections. Her maternal grandfather was the late General E. W. Moise, one of the best-known officers in the Cofederated Army, and for a few yearsafter the Civil War was Adjutant and Inspector-General of his State. He died recently at his old home in South Carolina. She is a cousin of Miss Jessica Peixotto, one of the most distinguished woman graduates of the University of Chicago, having taken the degree of doctor of philosophy. Another cousin, Ernest Peixotto, has won fame for himself in the worl of art. / No time has been set for the wedding of these Young people, but it will take place some time after Miss Davis complates her college work.
